  • I paid more than that for an Ikea kitchen, and it wasn't Oak. (and it wasn't Magnet!)

Our neighbours have a Magnet kitchen and would never ever get another one. They had it fitted by Magnet and cost a small fortune. The build quality of some of the units leaves a lot to be desired. We fitted our own from IKEA much cheaper and it is standing the test of time better than theirs. My advice is to really have a look inside the draws and cupboards at the fittings and make sure that you are 100% happy with the quality. They had to get them back out several times to replace items that were broken or not fitted properly in the first place.

Before you commit - just make sure you are happy!

Good luck with it all - getting a new kitchen fitted is quite disturbing for family life!

Just noticed too that your appliances are CANDY - I get the Which magasine every month and they don't do very well for brand reliability. It may work out better to source your appliances elsewhere. I've had my BOSCH dishwasher for 8 years now and it still works! We replaced the washing machine in the Summer (although it was still washing) and it would have been 8 years too. The vacuum cleaner is MIELE and it is over 6 years as well - The Dyson lasted 2! I guess it is obvious we have been married for 8 years then!

If you want to PM me I can look up which appliances did well when they were last tested by Which - it might help
  • Magnet wont be fitting it, I'll be getting my own joiner/fitter to do the job so shouldn't be a problem there.

To me a kitchen cabinet is a kitchen cabinet and dont really know what to look for, the reason we are looking at magnet as we like the Arisa oak Kitchen style.

Regarding Candy, Magnet trade must have a deal going with them as they are trying to push them and the prices are cheap, I think we will be sourcing our own appliances tho as not heard a lot of good things about candy.

Where is the best places to source appliances?
What should i be looking to budget for good quality appliances as above ie. fridge freezer, double oven, hob, hood and dishwasher?

Whats a good brand to go for without breaking the bank?

    Cheers for your help.

I like BOSCH - it doesn't last as long as MIELE but it is significantly cheaper. AEG come out well in the WHICH reports as do John Lewis (own brand)

It may be worth popping down to the library and reading back copies of Which? to see if they can recommend anything for you. If the issue is a few months old then you may find that you can get it cheaper now if the model has been replaced.

Here in Swindon John Lewis have an outlet at the Swindon Designer Outlet Village. You can quite often get really good prices on ex display and over stocked items. I bought my washing machine there and I took my friend who bought an oven and a fridge. Both items were still on the net for over £100 more.

  • Ikea is fine if you find one there that you like, dont know if I do tho.

Heard a few people say they can be a pain to fit with no service gaps and slightly deeper than average.
