Knowing your credit limit before accepting card

Is there a way to know your credit limit before accepting the card?

I.E Will the issuer advise the credit limit in the same letter as acceptance form?
So if the limit is not as high as required, you just don't send back the acceptance?

Sorry to say not in my experience. You may however be able to have the limit increased by talking to the provider and providing further proof of income.

Credit limits are a complete myth. What use is a limit that allows itself to go over the limit and then impose a charge? They are taking the.........

Credit limits should protect the customer. But they don't, of course.

I ALWAYS ring the card people to chaseup my application and whilst I have them on the phone I ask them out right what they think my limit will be. I then ask if there is ANY way they can upgrade it. Some say YES, otheres say No only after 3 months.
I am a rate tart and a stoozer.
