BT Connection Charge

I have just moved house and when I phoned BT to let them know they told me that there wouldn't be a connection charge due to there already being an active line in the house I was moving into...
I have since received a bill from them with a charge of £125 for installation..... After phoning them 3 times and being passed from department to department they finally tell me that the person who told me there would be no charge was in the wrong and that I had to pay it...
Can they do this after all, I was told by them I would not be charged..???

I am SURE BT company representative will be along to take ownership of your problem shortly.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Not if they have just won £45million.

Having told you there will be no installation charge, they cannot just decide to charge one.

If BT made a mistake, the least I would expect would be them contacting me to explain things. Not just send a bill after the event.

After all, if you knew there was going to be an installation charge, you may well have decided to make alternative arrangements with another supplier.
