Evening Dresses

Hi guys,
I need some advice...
My sister is getting married next year and I am her (only) bridemaid.. I am on the hunt for a bridesmaid dress but as I am the only one they do not have to be the 'traditional' type or matching with anyone else.

I am on a budget of £100, I am looking for some really nice evening dresses or bridemaids dresses. I am a bit on the bigger end size 16/18 so was just wondering if anyone knows any good places that I could have to look at.

I do not mind if it is online... but would prefer to try clothes on.. I live in Edinburgh

thanks in advance
:)

Is there a TK Max near you?
They have nice evening dresses for £35 or £40.

IGNORE the sizes (some of which are american).

It can be hit & miss whatever size you are.
Sometimes I've gone in before a cruise and bought 5, sometimes there is nothing.
They cover all sizes these days, but it is hit and miss and you do need to ignore the sizes, so don't be afraid of trying something that says it's 2 sizes too small because they have some American designers.
  • hi there, if you have a roman or outlett that does roman you can get some real bargains. they still have lots of sale stuff. :j

Have a look at the sale racks in Monsoon or a Monsoon outlet. They do lovely dresses and carry them in a range of sizes (up to 22 if I remember correctly).
Gratitude turns what we have into enough.
  • I would definately wait until after (or sometimes a few days before) Christmas when all the big stores reduce their party wear. I have brought a few nice dresses from Debenhams before and Next and House of Frazer also stock some nice evening wear.

When next year is the wedding? I once bought a dress in the Winter sales thinking that it would look good for a Summer function but when I dug it out a few months later it looked much too winter-party-dress-ish to wear in the Summer. If the wedding is in the Summer, try to envisage the dress then - hope that makes sense!

Hi, I'm my sister's only bridesmaid next August and she chose a gorgeous dress from Debenhams for me. It was £120 but I got a 15% online discount and free delivery. Have a look at Debenham ladie's Occasionwear...some gorgeous dresses!
    Good luck xxx

Completely agree with having look at TK Maxx... the bigger shop the better. Keep returning as they change their merchandise very often and it is hit and miss.

Not sure whether there is any Monsoon outlet near you... Near us is Cheshire Oaks outlet village and Monsoon has outlet shop there. Brilliant bargains to be had!!

As for lenght... what ever you feel best in!

Like other people have said in previous posts, Debenhams have some nice dresses. They also normally hold their '25% off everything' sale in November :)
