Louis Vuitton

Hello,
I purchased a Louis Vuitton bag from the Louis Vuitton store in Banff, Canada in June 2008 when I was on holiday. Only a week ago I noticed a crack in the bag and I took it straight back to the nearest LV store which is in London, Oxford Street. They said that they would send it off to Quality Control, and they would get back to me to see if they could do anything. Yesterday I had a call back saying they could not do anything and the cost of repairing the bag would be the same price as actually buying a brand new one.
I think this is an absolute joke as I only bought the bag last year, and the bag cost £1150. UK Trading Standards state something along the lines of "A product/service should last a reasonable amount of time, taking into consideration cost". Now I think a bag costing this amount should last much longer than only a year. The only problem is these are UK trading laws and as I purchased the bag in Canada, these laws do not apply to me. I have been doing a lot of research and cannot find a Canadian law similar to this UK one from the Sale of Goods Act.
Do I have any consumer rights? I have been readying some forums and some people say that Canadian Louis Vuitton stores have 2 years warranty, I know UK Louis Vuitton stores do not have a warranty but I cannot prove that Canadian Louis Vuitton stores do have 2 years warranty.
If I am indeed not supported by any warranty, should I still not have any rights regarding the length of time this product has lasted, considering the cost? I'm getting really worked up about this and worried that all that money I spent has been an utter waste
Please help!

Have you tried e-mailing or phoning the LV shop in Banff. They will certainly be able to vefify if a 2 year warranty is in place.0

Did you buy it on your credit card perchance ?
If so take it up with your credit card company as you are covered under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act for items purchased abroad"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Thanks for your response guys. Yes I did purchase it with a credit card, but as it was in June 2008, will I still be covered under this act?0

I don't know about Canadian law but certainly UK law allows for a partial refund, taking into consideration the amount of time you've have the bag and how much it appears to have been used. I would have thought a company like LV would have least have offered you vouchers against a future purchase0
