    No.....

    It definitely won't be days!!

Even when liability isn't disputed it takes weeks/months to finalise a damage claim, and months/years a PI claim.

It is HIGHLY unlikely to be days given the other poster has a solicitor involved but there certainly are PI claim cases where the TPI makes an offer as soon as they hear the claimant has a minor injury in the attempt to close the claim off and avoid extra legal costs. There was someone on here the other day saying they'd been offered £800 even before they've seen any doctors at all (even their GP let alone an independent for a report)
  • simply to offer experience and opinion (no advice):

Collision 1 (insured by company A): end Nov 2008, no injury simply damage claim not settled as of now (Feb 2012). My opinion 50:50, other participant (PARAPHRASING) "I want £4k for the scratch on my car...It's not my fault, I was rushing home to see my grandchildren/dog/god knows and as I overtook a line of traffic on the wrong side of the road..."

Collision 2 (insured by company B): end Dec 2009, 3rd party went into the back of me at roundabout (I was stationary) no serious damage to my vehicle (his in awful state), treated at A&E for neck and back pain, continued treatment by GP and private physio arranged by insurer, liability admitted Feb 2010, settlement agreed Sept 2010, payout within 3 days by BACS.

And to offer opinion I'd say don't count on the cash EVER. I was advised I'd receive upwards of £6k for collision 2, I walked away with £2150 and my private physio paid for. At that point I'd paid/lost £1000 in lost wages/hospital car parking/prescription/husband's lost wages whilst taking on childcare etc.

Probably not what you want to hear but my opinon/experience

It was motorcycle hire and it came to about 2400.

How much was your bike worth!?

£2400 for a hire bill is stupid, no wonder Insurance is so expensive because of Credit Hire! (Not having a go at you by the way... just the system)

This is where we differ. I simply would not agree to pay because the hire costs are stupidly high and a right royal rip off.

Even if I had to pay, I'd keep them sitting on a shelf for years and years.

The public momentum against this has to be maintained and increased so that we all benefit.
