    If the meter is proven to be faulty, you will be billed based on estimated usage which may result in you owing or being owed a balancing figure.

    I would like to know as per my per my original post if the meter were faulty.................

    Did your secret supplier inform you that if the meter is proven to be accurate i.e. recording within specified tolerances, that they will charge you for the meter test/swap?

    :rolleyes:

    My last electric provider would not check the meter as i said there may be a problem with it - so i forgot all about it.

    Out of curiosity what would happen if it was faulty ?The last few years like i said my electric has been through the roof and i have paid some huge bills i know prices have gone up but say the meter is faulty would i get the excess money refunded? The only problem is ive swapped and changed providers.

    Personally I would be amazed if you could get any refunds from your previous suppliers as you "forgot all about it" and did not dispute the bills at the time with these suppliers. There is no need for secrecy!

    I did not forget all about it actually .

    I did dispute bills with my last supplier and the one prior to that. Over the years i have come on this site and looked for the cheapest supplier like most do and change.I challanged one provider N power for instance they refused to come and look at the meter. I have now changed not from N Power but another one .They have brought this usage up.I explained to them regard N Power saying there was nothing wrong however they didnt bother to check.
    This supplier said believes it is faulty.
    Whilst my electricity bill is much cheaper my current Energy provider has contacted me regard this Excessive consumption and they believe it's a faulty meter .
    My electric consumption as they have pointed out is to someone who runs a heated swimming pool etc.
    All i wanted to know is if it is a faulty Electric meter and for the past couple of years through various Electric providers that i have swaped with and challenged would i be entitled to any refund as just my electricity usage is "Excessive "
  • This is the second thread you've started, asking for advice, but refusing to answer questions that you are asked. Why bother?

    What is so hard about giving the actual number of kWh you have used?

    Because the issue is not about kWh .Im asking ;

    If the meter is faulty will i be able to get a refund for overpayments .

    If the meter is faulty, then the issue really is about kWh. Of course, if the meter is faulty, you will be entitled to refunds - BUT you will have lost access to the one thing which can give you evidence, the meter itself! So establishing how much your refund should be could turn into a problem.

    If you were willing to engage with what espresso was asking in the first place, you probably would have got some good advice which would have put you in a very good position to hold your own against the utility company in sorting this out. But if you are confident that they will sort it out, then carry on.

    The issue is not about what you are asking .Im asking ;

    How many kWh have you allegedly used .

    ...this could go on for days, but as it's not very productive, I'll stop wasting any more time.
