Hello, thanks for waiting and welcome to eBay Live Help! My name is Ryan. How may I help you?
11:10:40 user1.pngcomputerbar
Hi ryan
11:10:49 agent.pngRyan R.
Hello, how're you today?
11:11:02 user1.pngcomputerbar
fine thanks. I would like to relist my item
11:11:21 user1.pngcomputerbar
which are over 60 days old but less than 90 days old
11:11:33 user1.pngcomputerbar
I can not see them in my ebay
11:11:44 user1.pngcomputerbar
the option there is only upto 60 days
11:12:17 user1.pngcomputerbar
and I believe it is ebays policy that free relisting can be done with 90 days
11:12:19 agent.pngRyan R.
May I please have the item number so that I can take a quick look?
11:12:39 user1.pngcomputerbar
thats what I do not know
11:12:42 user1.pngcomputerbar
:(
11:13:05 user1.pngcomputerbar
I was selling some 50 books about two months ago
11:13:26 user1.pngcomputerbar
about 27 of them were unsold
11:13:37 agent.pngRyan R.
May I know if that was Sold on eBay?
11:13:38 user1.pngcomputerbar
so I need to relist them now
11:13:43 user1.pngcomputerbar
yes
11:15:29 agent.pngRyan R.
Well, on eBay the listing is visible only for 60 days and after that its taken off to save the resources.
11:15:39 user1.pngcomputerbar
OK
11:15:45 user1.pngcomputerbar
but
11:16:05 user1.pngcomputerbar
why not make it visible for 90 days
11:16:20 user1.pngcomputerbar
if it is the policy to relist them within 90 days
11:16:21 user1.pngcomputerbar
?
11:16:34 agent.pngRyan R.
I do understand the importance of your situation. However, the 60 days is the default time set by eBay to all the items on eBay.
11:16:39 user1.pngcomputerbar
I think it is absurd
11:17:01 agent.pngRyan R.
I understand how you must be feeling and I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
11:17:06 user1.pngcomputerbar
so what I am going to do now
11:17:27 user1.pngcomputerbar
?
11:17:34 agent.pngRyan R.
But we need to do that as if we keep all the listings then the site will be very slow..
11:17:54 agent.pngRyan R.
You'll have to relist your item as fresh item.
11:18:09 user1.pngcomputerbar
but I wont get any credit for it
11:18:10 user1.pngcomputerbar
?
11:18:45 agent.pngRyan R.
That's right, as it has to be done within 60 days..
11:18:55 user1.pngcomputerbar
60 days?
11:19:09 user1.pngcomputerbar
I think you are confused ;)
11:19:09 agent.pngRyan R.
However, you can get in touch with us once your item sells so we can help you with it.
11:19:15 user1.pngcomputerbar
it is 90 dyas
11:19:17 user1.pngcomputerbar
days
11:19:30 agent.pngRyan R.
No, its 60 days the...
11:19:43 agent.pngRyan R.
The pages are not yet updated on eBay site.
11:19:44 user1.pngcomputerbar
O let me show it to you
11:19:51 user1.pngcomputerbar
wait
11:20:13 user1.pngcomputerbar
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/relist.html#relist
11:20:27 user1.pngcomputerbar
You must relist the item within 90 days of the closing date of the original listing.
11:20:45 agent.pngRyan R.
Yes, we know that and are trying to update that all over eBay.
11:21:03 user1.pngcomputerbar
I think you are BSing me right now
11:21:06 user1.pngcomputerbar
:)
11:21:57 user1.pngcomputerbar
so
11:23:08 user1.pngcomputerbar
hello where are you?
11:23:27 agent.pngRyan R.
Please relist your item as fresh item and once it sells you can get in touch with so we can help you with the insertion fee credit for the item.
11:25:03 user1.pngcomputerbar
But you said that ebay is updating all the page to change it from 90 days to 60 days how I be sure I would get a credit for it then?
11:25:57 agent.pngRyan R.
You can use the Session Number: 20176113 once your listing is sold so we can help you with it.

Well I am going to post this conversation to some of my regular forums and will see what other members think of this conversation.
11:27:57 agent.pngRyan R.
Sure you can do that too.
11:29:27 user1.pngcomputerbar
thanks. I think all everbody would find that too that ebay is changing its policy for relisting from 90 days to 60 days like you said.
11:29:29 user1.pngcomputerbar
:)
11:29:57 agent.pngRyan R.
You're welcome! Before I let you go, is there anything else I can help you with?
11:30:53 user1.pngcomputerbar
no thanks but I am really disappointed
11:31:42 agent.pngRyan R.

That is absurd. You did good though. :)

Life's not fair, especially if you dabble in eBay!

I hope you get your free listings!

  • I think the operator was very calm and polite given how obtuse and sarcastic you were being.

Don't forget how frequently obtuse eBay is. Of course young Ryan is hardly eBay's CEO, however he clearly can't even explain the discrepency on eBay's part and is skirting the issue.

He advised the reason why its 60days and explained the reason it says 90 on some parts of Ebay is because they are trying to update it all. He explained it very clearly!

Legally if they offer that, then they should produce the goods.

He just says that matter of fact with a nice serving of "Just deal with it" to boot.

Regardless, I can sympathise with the OP's frustration.

  • They did say they would reimburse. The data storage must be a issue when you think about it. But yes, they should change their policy if they can't store the listings.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

Most listings are free anyway, which is why the policy has been revised.

No such thing as a free relist though

You get a relist credit on an unsold item and then if you relist within the set time period and it sells on the second attempt you get the second set of listing fees back. This only applies to the basic fees not any upgrades.

Also as these are books they now need to have the post and packing included in the start price so no doubt that means a higher start price, which means they would not be eligible for a relist anyway.
