The zip on my jeans keeps coming down - help, please!

Hi,
I have 2 pairs of identical jeans and the zips on them just won't stay up!
They are a year or so old and this has just started to happen. I fasten them up and then a moment or so later the zip comes undone.
I really would appreciate some ideas on this as I don't want to throw them away.
Thanks!

Loose weight?I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Do you mean that I should lose weight (!) or have I lost some weight? My weight hasn't changed since I bought them so that isn't the problem.0

if you like them then maybe safety pin them shut?Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

There is a tiny pin in the zipper slider that locks into the zip teeth when the slider is pushed flat against the zip. This stops it coming down again. Sounds to me like it's got worn down with use. You can change the slider but it's a fiddly and unsatisfactory job sometimes. Best just go for a safety pin.Val.0

I had this problem with a couple of pairs of my jeans too. The solution for me was to actually stitch the flap (that covers the zip) down permanently and to pull them on zip-free instead. Alternatively you could replace the zip or have them replaced by someone you know who is skilled at this or pay to have it done. I'm a cheapskate and not very good at sewing but as i always wear tops that cover my belly anyway no one gets to see my creative way of saving my jeans!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Yes sometimes it can be down to weight, but like valk scot said if you push the zip down very flat it should hold. Some zips just need a little more pressure pushing them down iykwim.0

this seems to happen in my family a lot i found that attatching a ring from a keyring where you put the keys on put that through the zipper and then pull up and put over the button then do the jeans up not good if you need the loo but seems to work well0

I did this for years with a particular pair of jeans that I loved and couldn't replace and it worked really well0 -
Similar to the keyring thing I tied a bit of strong thick thread round the cut out bit on the top of the zip pull, made a loop and then pulled the loop over the button. You can't see it when the're done up and it worked a treatMortgage as at March 2010 £225,000 target for December 2012 £170,000.
