I have not been east yet .. we have looked but then always seem to end up heading west.saveapenny wrote:IVAN...you ever been on WindStar or Safari Club crusies? or do Black Sea, Indian Ocean or Pacific rim
Passing the TA there seems to be good prices and availability on P&O Oceana for 9th Nov 2006 - the price seems to be about £1360 per person for an inside cabin 14 night Caribbean cruise (fly UK to Barbados).
There are some good deals for the Med in Oct 2006 as well - but the weather can be very hit or miss (not forgetting you have to get through the Sea of Biscay if you depart from Southampton).
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
I think it is wonderful you want to take your wife away for a cruise after her treatment, but can I just say that I too have gone through Chemo followed by Radiation. Loosing my hair was an awful ordeal for me and it was a good six months after all the treatments before I felt anywhere near presentable. So, I really do feel you should leave plenty of time to get back to normal - after all a gal always wants to look her best! My best wishes to you both.SallyD0

Thank-you ,I know that you understand how she feels, and that helps me,because I need to respond ,and care and be positive, she does care about her appearance and you high-lighted that fact from her perspective, the cruise has given her something to look forward to a light at the end of the tunnel. She still has three sessions of chemo left, they are three weeks apart,at the moment no radiation.Take careSallyD wrote:I think it is wonderful you want to take your wife away for a cruise after her treatment, but can I just say that I too have gone through Chemo followed by Radiation. We would like to sail from the UK,no long haul flight, somewhere different.IvanOpinion wrote:Kenshaz, firstly best regards to your wife and i hope she has a speedy and permanent recovery. Is there anywhere that you particularly want to go and visit? Is money or location going to be a limiting factor? What sort of people are you .. try anything once, beach relaxation, explorers? Have you cruised before? Do you mind dressing up (tux/suit)?
If you can wait until later in the year (e.g. November-March) then there are some good deals for the Caribbean, however for something really memorable I would look for a full Panama Canal Transit (possibly LA to Fort Lauderdale, or Acapulco to Barbados). As others have said if you don't fancy flying then there are plenty of options out of Southampton including Med, Baltics, transatlantic etc.
Of the mass market lines Celebrity is probably the best closely followed by P&O and Princess. RCI is now aiming itself more at families and Canrival is looking for the party goers.
Keep an eye on the chat boards on web sites like https://www.cruisecritic.com and https://www.ship-happens.co.uk (look for a poster called Pip, he/she always seems to be able to find the bargains) and look on teletext.
If you can give more info I am sure we can all come up with your dream holiday
Ivan
