Hi guys
I get quite a good wage and i work offshore 2weeks on 2 weeks off so means when am away i dont spend anything.
But when am home or due to come home sometimes i order things etc off the net or order stuff when am home. really just wasting my money on stuff i dont need.
I am needing to save over next 6 months really and only need max £500 to live on a month inc rent etc
I am wanting to put nearly 3/4 of my wage into savings but i need it not to have card or internet access for it which would help me from tranfering or withdrawing the money easy enough.
Do you still get the idea of paying in with a book way?
Does the post office do it now?

Most Building Societies will offer a passbook account but usually at a slightly lower interest rate than internet accounts. but if you really can't trust yourself not to dip in to it then maybe that is an option. Set up a monthly standing order from your Current account to the BS one for 3/4 of your wage and you will see the balance grow ...
Check out accounts and rates etc on somewhere like https://www.moneyfacts.co.uk or similar sites.
I would suggest that with excess income such as you describe you would be well advised to think long & hard about a short-, a medium- and a long-term savings plan for yourself. This could be your finest hour.0 -
what would yous guys recommend.
reason dont want internet one is due to being able to get access while away aswell so far 2 tempted to transfer the money and same of it sitting in my current account.0 -
decided what am going to do.
am going to change banks and get a basic account for wages with a ATM card cause with having a debit card its far 2 tempting to just phone up and use it or use it online etc etc.
then it will help me control my money for a while0 -
does any one recommend the post office account or do you recommend going for the cash car account with Llyods TSB0

Definately recommed Lloyds Current Account, which pays 4% if you pay in over £1000 per month. It also allows you to open a regular saver account (fixed for 2 years at 8%) and also gives you £50 if you use their account transfer team.0
