Problems with recently repaired Dell, just got it back and cannot get onto net, my ntl will not load I get to the point where I plug in the modem and it says the modem is not there, have tried removing modem from hardware but still no joy, modem is working fine on this lappy and I can hear it kicking in but no installation screen comes up,the settings were all screwed up when I got the system back resolution was so high I couldn't even read the text to get to right screen to increase it. Can anyone offer a simple suggestion I can try before calling them in the morning and racking up a phone bill?

Find the CD with the drivers for the modem on./
Insert the CD.. install all the drivers, plug it back in.
If no works, sorry

I would start by reloading the laptop motherboard chipset drivers, as they control the USB I/O. The default Windows ones may be less than optimum.
They should be downloadable from Dell.

Enables a computer to recognize and adapt to hardware changes with little or no user input. Stopping or disabling this service will result in system instability.
