A bit more on this one, as it's now been posted....
The recent rise in mortgage lending to house buyers has levelled off, the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) says.

In September, 51,000 mortgages were agreed for house purchase, up from 50,000 in August but lower than the 53,000 recorded in July.

The CML said lending in each of those three months had been higher than in the same months last year, after 25 months of steady year-on-year decline.

First-time buyers are still having to put down an average deposit of 25%.

"Although the recent bounce-back in house purchase activity is holding up, we remain some way below what might be called 'normal' levels of transactions," said CML economist Paul Samter.

    Ruggedtoast's 'Did you know?'

    Did you know that:

In 1974 Hamish McTavish bought a 2 up 2 down in Aberdeen after being inspired to become a landlord by Leonard Rossiter's Rigsby character in Rising Damp.

In 2009 Hamish McTavish still owns the same property.

Hamish spends an entire working day ech day ranting at hpc.co.uk and posting cut and pastes in MSE. He beavers away ceaselessly apart from between 11.15 and 12.24 when he stops to have lunch and jizz over a laminated picture of Fergus and Judith Wilson.

Hamish can't tell which is which either.

Hamish has been thanked over a thousand times in more than 1600 posts.

At least 5 of his thanks have come from people other than his own sock accounts.

Hamish McTavish is available for after dinner speeches.

    ?

Tune in next time for more fun facts McTavish watchers!

    Get a blog.
Three threads in a row. Get a life.

I take it you will be following your own advice ;)
All you seem to be doing lately is posting without contributing anything and having a fo at Hamish's posts.
Is it because you have no counter point to make that we can discuss?

I think you'll find I havent created a thread for a long time. If I dont have anything to create a thread about I dont bother.

Unlike Hamish who makes about 6 boring pointless new threads a day with the sole intention of winding bears up. Having done this he can hardly complain if people rise to it can he.

As to not having anything to counter him with:

"Mortgage lending rises again, up by 2%, SKy News Ticker.

More to follow when it gets posted somewhere."

This isnt the basis of a new thread, yet again there is nothing to discuss, no opinion, or human interest.

Any moderated board would lock Hamish's nonsense or the mods would merge it into any one of the hundred other cut and pastes hes made that week.
  • I think you'll find I havent created a thread for a long time. If I dont have anything to create a thread about I dont bother.

Ok, replace thread with post
Hamish would probably have followed it up, but Graham kindly provided a link, thus he did not have to.

Maybe you should apply your statement in bold above to posts as well as threads. You had a go at Hamish for starting three threads in a row yet you appear to have had three posts in a row having a go at Hamish

Yes - every pointless thread that Hamish creates will now result in my having a go.

This is just the law of cause and effect.

One would have thought that if his sole intention was to wind people up, then he wouldn't be complaining at all if people rise to it, far from it. I'm sure each time a HPC cheerleader (I refuse to use the terms 'bears' and 'bulls' in their wrong context) rises to his bait and starts to respond in the way you have been doing, he must be giggling and hugging himself with glee.

Best policy would be to ignore it, surely?
"I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.

May be easier and better to ignore him

The law of cause and effect of you having a go at every pointless (in your opinion) Hamish thread will result in your having a go at him will mean you come across as being ignorant and blinded.

Not a strong position to start in when having discussions / debates

ruggedtoast - don't blame Hamish, he is only passing on news based on the economy. Im sorry if it's stuff you don't want to hear.
