Condensation / Damp around upstairs windows

Guys,
On the side of house that see little sunlight during the winter I suffer very badly with condensation on the glass of the upvc windows and damp on the sills and sides of the window opening.
The central heating is on for about 6hrs in total during the day and room temp is around 16-18c upstairs (prefer cooler for sleeping) where the problem is worst.
Is there anything I can do to stop this occuring ?
Thanks in advance,
Mike.
