Will be VERY interesting to see how retailers approach this.
When the 15% rate kicked in last year it was not a 2.5% reduction by retailers to calculate the new rate, it was actually lower.
However, you can be absolutely certain that they will at 2.5% on to their current retail prices - meaning they actually come out better than they did before the rate reduction.0 -
I found the vat decrease had much effect anyway unless you bought a very expensive item and assuming they actually past the costs on
You will have to be from Mars to not know its going back up soon

Just like the minus 2.5% made no real difference, (people complained that it was at best pointless and at worst, an insult) I don't think having an increase of 2.5% will really hurt. Unless your spending £xxxxx on an item, and actually, if you have the money for something costing £xxxxx, 2.5% is not really likely to be a concern to you!0

There's also a lot of talk of an increase in the standard rate to around 20% in the near future. We have one of the lowest VAT rates in Europe at the moment.Mortgage to clear asap! - [STRIKE]£148,874.38 [/STRIKE]as at 1 May 2013£79,176.55 May 2018£59,516.06 July 2019November 2020 £35,914.620

What a load of rubbish. Why does everyone have to complain about everything. First it's "oh the 2.13% drop is nothing"... Then it's "OMG this 2.13% increase is gonna be horrible."0
