BA.com - return flight but want one way

Hi there.

I'm due to go out on a cruise that starts from Venice but ends in Barcelona.

BA.com have some great fares, but only as part of a return journey.

If i find the return journey price to/from each destination is still cheaper than going elsewhere for solely the two flights one way - can i buy a return to venice and a return to barcelona from BA.com but only use the outbound Venice part and the inbound Barcelona part?

Does this make sense?

What i understand you want to do is buy a return to venice but only fly one way there and then buy a return from barcelona to london, but only travel one way.

It should not be a problem, I have done that on several occasions.

Better off using richardw's link as sometimes airlines cancel return tickets if the outward part isn't used. Some pretty good fares there too. The so called budget airlines tend to book tickets on a single basis so that could be another option, although i dont use them as I always find their fares as dear if not more expensive than the likes of BA etc.

Shouldn't be a problem as we have done this. Make sure you buy a LON to Venice and don't use the return part but when buying from Barcelona make sure you buy Barcelona TO London and not London to Barcelona as they will cancel the return part if you don't use the outward part. Do you understand?

I had an argument on the phone with BA It ended up the return flight was cheaper than the one way but they refused to sell it me cos they knew I wouldnt be getting on the return legg.

Just booked it on the internerd instead

Why do you want to use BA to fly between London & Venice and Barcelona & London. Plenty of low costs airlines do those routes - see https://www.whichbudget.com or https://www.skyscanner.net

If you insist on BA then look into "open jaw" flights which on BA come under the heading of Book one-way and multi-city

have you thought about taking the train? I've done the London-Barcelona trip and it was quite civilised!

(Sounds as if you're sorted now anyway. I do agree they are stupid not letting you book a return)

Thanks for yours, and everyone else's advice.
The one-way BA thing was what i needed -- i was told they didn't sell 'open-jaw' -- i, or my informant, didn't look hard enough!!!

We are looking to go on a cruise in late August - departing from Venice eventually arriving in Barcelona after 12 nights. It wasn't so bad last year - we did one then but flew to Barcelona for the start and from the same airport at the end.
