Tupe/Redundancy

Current employers have finally today advised us they are selling part of the business to a competitor, and some of the staff are to be Tuped over or take a redundancy package.

Job role wise from what I can see, I am going from a non telephony job to a full time telephony job so am I right in thinking the job role is not a straight forward like for like?

Also with it being Tupe and there are 20 odd folks involved we are to make a decision in one week, should I not be entitled to a longer period ie 30 days? or given a chance to work in the new workplace for a "trial" period then if I dont like it then opt for the Redundancy.

  • Interesting. If your current employer makes you redundant but the jobs are required at the new place, then you are not redundant and can claim against the new company for your job.

    Yes, you are entitled to a minimum of 30 days consultation but only if more than 20 redundancies take place.

    You should be given the opportunity to trial a new role and you and your colleagues should be given the opportunity to discuss this with the company that you are transferring into.
