I would have thought if it is a deed of covenant it is not just the builder and council who could enforce it. Surely any resident could take the matter to court and have it enforced. Not something I would want to do, but maybe I would feel different if my neighbour was so thoughtless as to park several unsightly vehicles in front of my home. I would speak to him first and if I got no joy ..... maybe I would go to court.

Regarding the taxi owner. I think you are prohibited from running a business from a private home? I think you require planning permission.

Ah Nelly sorry.....we have a white van stuck up our drive too - I am not shunning the white vans - just wish when planning consent was given for family homes that the parking reflected this!

Quite a few homes here have 3 cars with 1 space and limited road side parking - it can be such a headache.

Not so - you're OK, just not your van.

I have the same restrictive covenant. My next door neighbour is a really nice guy but I didn't appreciate him parking his big red ex-post office van right in front of our house each evening so a quick word about the covanent (which he did know about) and no big red van parked in front of our window. Same story a few months later when some cheeky git decided to park a 7.5 tonne lorry in nearly the same place then walk to the next estate along where he lived !!! Quick call to the rental company (very kindly signwritten on the side) and problem goes away.

Frankly I think it keeps the area looking nice. If you're paying hundreds of thousands of pounds on a home with a nice view why should you put up with that view being spoiled all the time by commercial vehicles ?

I can see it both ways. No-one wants their expensive new home to be blighted by white vans. On the other hand if you are selling houses to white van men, you've got to expect some white vans!
