Hye ive got 3 children aged between 8 and 15. Birthday treats/parties get so expensive as thay get older but up to the age of 3 we had lovely tea parties at home for all of mine. Close family and friends and they were the best ones for sure. I love looking back at the photos, so do my children
Enjoy, whatever you decide to do. x0 -
My nephew didn't have a christening, so for his first birthday my sister and brother-in-law hired their friend's hotel for a weekend and had a buffet etc.
I like the zoo idea as well."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
I took my DD to Paignton Zoo this year in march for her 1st. She enjoyed it, but it was more for mummy and daddy i think. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

For DS we had a little tea party with just close family and cake and photos to make a fuss of him and me and my husband took him to soft play and swimming on the actual day so will do the same for DDs 1st. Keep it simple as long as you can because now DS is coming up to 4 he has a great dinasaur extravaganza in mind with bouncy castle etc!HSBC Visa-High interest-£2349.23 Nat West £2605.18

On both of mines 1st birthday we just had close friends round, we stayed in all day because people drop in with presents / cards all day and want to say hello to the birthday person,
I always decorate the front room for birthdays, just bunting and banners etc
we had a little bit of party food and made a big fuss of the baby... but thats it
the second, my DD (june baby) had a party in the garden with her friends (ie - my best friends children)
My DS (nov baby - birthday was sunday just gone) we had the same as his first really, decorations, party food, people round... we played a few games, he licked all the cupcakes...
it was a good day
gets a lot more complicated when they start school, DD is 10 next birthday and is too cool for most things!0 -
Thanks everyone for replying! The wife has bought banners and balloons for the house and friends will pop in over the weekend and we're going to have a family meal in the afternoon with the grandparents
Great idea about the zoo, might do that if the weather brightens up next week.0 -
