Roof Vents??? Sweating Roof???

Hi I live in a rented house from the housing association I had terrible problems with damp last winter and was told by an inspector that this was because my roof was sweating and I would need air vents in the roof to prevent this???
When the roofer came to do the job he said he had never heard of a sweating roof??? and that putting in air vents would just make my cold
house colder??? (and he would not advise it)
I chose not to have the vents and was fine in the summer months but now it is winter again the damp has come back
I'm so confused as to what to do for the best??? I have 2 small children and 1 on the way and the house is already freezing!!!
Any advice is greatly appreciated
Has anyone ever heard of a sweating roof???
Has anyone ever had vents put in the roof??? What was the outcome please?

Yeah i've had a sweating roof and had to get air vents put in.
This was picked up by the surveyor when we bought our house. And he recommended that we get the vents. When you looked in the loft it was like there was condensation running down the wooden struts and it was stifiling hot.
It ensures there is cool air flowing through the ceiling.Just because I disagree with you, doesn't mean I hate you. We need to understand this as a Society

Ive never actually looked up there made oh go up but might have to grin and bear it so I can get a better idea of whats going on!!!
Do you find the house any colder now the vents are in????0 -
It won't be any colder if you have the recomended 270mm of insulation. Your roof space is meant to be cold. You insulate a loft to keep the heat in your living space.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
