DNS error

I'm getting a "cannot connect to DNS server..see your network team support".
Can connect to Tiscali on this sole computer, but can't connect to the internet.
Can anyone tell me what to do.
Am using library machine at the mo...

Need more information really... When you connect to Tiscali it should automatically provide a DNS server which IE or firefox then uses to convert domains into IP addresses.

Is it broadband or 56k? Sole computer, or into a router on a network?

Tiscali = internet so do you mean it establishes a connection with tiscali but when browsing web pages you get a DNS error? If so the problem isn't "The internet" but Tiscali's DNS server not coming to your pc.

Make sure you have no firewall on. Once connected try going to the following in internet explorer:
66.102.9.104

Thats the IP for google so you can see if there is a connection there or not

If that works but you still cant go to https://www.google.com then go to Start > Run > cmd and type in
ipconfig /all

Then copy and paste everything for DNS Servers

Also do the standard virus scans etc just to ensure its not spyware

I've been having a similar problem this afternoon I could connect to Eclipse but not to the internet via IE or Firefox

I keep getting Runtime Error, I don't know how I've managed to get online now

Thank you Merciless K, you done something, tis working now. Sounds like at Tiscali end. Will keep your info in case it goes again.
Am on Dial up Tiscali Daytime Plus £8 a month every daytime, and find their Accelerator fast enough without paying broadband prices.Sole computer.
