I think you can just keep it as
"the English language is really hard to get your head around! Numerous words aren’t spelt how they sound"
or add that there's always exceptions to all the many rules? I think what you suggested is good though as you're not losing the meaning of the sentence.
BTW I'd be really interested in your book, can you tell me where I could purchase a copy please?0 -
the books are going to be distributed free. like i said, ive only done two pages in it, it covers a whole plethorah of issues that can affect young people.
i will follow your advice (thanks again!) and avoid saying homonyms and homophones! i cant help being that way sometimes, part of the PGDE was a level 6 in english languge/ literacy (degree level is level 5) so i know all manner of useless stuff about english!0 -
i have 20 of the books, the mamager or the charity asked if people could make a donation if theyd like one, whatever amount you see fit0
