i require an outside tap to be fitted and am interested as to how much i should be quoted by a plumber for the work?
i know i can fit one myself, go to B+Q, buy the kit etc but i require a 16mm masonary drill bit to put the hole in the wall...all within my capabilities but this means needing to BUY a drill bit and they are approx £16.
i would only use it once so it would be a waste.
in total i would spend £26 min (diy).
i would like a professional job done so that any problems will be dealt with by the plumber, i just dont want to get ripped off with high quotes etc

Depends what area of the country you're in.
Find a local sole trader, don't use one of the big firms.
A lot if it will be determined by ease of acces to the pipework internally.0 -
It may be a good investment to buy the drill bits.
Take a look at these....... http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7016310.htm

£45-£60 fitted, plus you would be better useing a 20mm bit, as 16mm will be tight for the pipe to fit through.
With the kits from B*Q you will find they dont meet the currant Water regs, as they supply you with a Hose union tap with a check valve fitted inside, you/we are longer allowed to fit them, except for replacement, you have to fit a DCV seperatly.
Also they supply you with a self cutting tee, which only have a 4mm outlet:eek: , and you will suffer from poor flow through you tap, and not to mention the piece of hose and jubilee clips:eek:
Be would be better off going to a plumbers merchant(or B&Q) and buying the correct materials. S**t material=S**t job.
materials req
1- hose-union bibtap
2-15mm backplate
3-15mm Tee
4- 1 roll of ptfe
5- jointing compound
6- 15mm double check valve
7- 15mm isolation valve( full bore, idealy)
8- 15mm copper pipe
9- 15mm bends.0
