Insurance cover in house share

I am a tenant who has a room in a rented house in Bristol, I'd like to know where I stand re. insurance for my belongings?
All my stuff belongs to me, I left my parents home last year.
At the risk of souding stupid/naive, am I already covered by the landlords insurance (I have none in place for myself as yet)?
I moved in a month ago and have not had the written contract yet, concerned as to where I stand- should I be looking to get my own insurance sortred asap? or are you given some cover in a rented property?
Advice needed, thanks!

Hi
The landlord won't cover your belongings under his policy.Try Endsleigh Insurance who cover most of the students in the country or google under "students contents insurance" or similar.

I've had room insurance with Endsleigh before, but after I finished uni my kit-car insurance broker, MSM Insurance found me a policy to cover personal property in a shared house scenario. The policy is with AUL, and was the cheapest at the time (2 years ago - and I'm now trying to find other companies before I renew just to compare prices).
MSM transferred me as a customer to Devizes Insurance & Mortgage Brokers (01380 724288) so I now deal with them as my contact for AUL, though I may try to go direct.
Adrian Flux also quoted me but they wanted over £100 whereas AUL's renewal is £79.
Let us know if you make any progress!
