Don't get this post at all.
Is she not spending the same money on your baby? Is that the problem?0 -
Everyone spends far too much on their baby , you soon learn you didnt really need a y and z . But you MIL must be over the moon , and thats what grand parents are for , spending loads on grandchildren , they probably didnt have the money to do it when they had their kids , so let her have her funVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0

I hate to say it but you're coming across as being a bit petty...0

I dont understand the comment that your MIL wouldnt be as excited about her Son becoming a Father. As a soon to be Grandma (by our DIL) we are beside ourselves with excitement. And would feel exactly the same if it were out DD!:j I have a persecution complex. Everytime I pass a shoe shop they persecute me till I buy them:j0

Hey hard as it is just try and be happy for them. It's fun chosing what to buy for a new baby. Some people will chose to spend the pennies differently to you but that is their right - it's their baby. When your turn comes you'll enjoy doing it your way. I LOVE buying some expensive things for my little one - my heart literally races with the pleasure. Other times I am sensible and shop in that way. It's not right or wrong.
I understand the temptation to be prepared for when you have your baby but it may help if you saved reading reviews on baby products until then at least that way you won't be so aware of the implications of your SILs choices.MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0 -
I agree babies don't have to be expensive but are you sure you haven't been taken over by the green eyed monster?
It all comes down to personal preference after all, and if they have the money and want to part with it...

I think we are all individual & all choose to spend different amounts.0

People generally spend what they can afford on baby things . If it's her money then she can buy what she wants. Perhaps she couldn't afford expensive things for her own children so is splashing out on her grandkids. Of course expensive things aren't neccessary and baby won't know the difference but so what? You need to let this go and not worry about it.0

There are endless choices for baby equipment out there - some is expensive and come is not. However, at the end of the day the option you go for, or what your MIL nor SIL chooses really is up to them. I agree that expensive is not always the best, but sometimes it can be and we all know that cost isn't always the deciding factor in a purchase. If your MIL can afford it then I would just be happy they have found things they like.
I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this responser.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!
