I don't really "do" Xmas. I'm not a Christian, and I don't have kids, so what'd be the point? If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

I'm probably about the same as I was last year. I only ever really buy presents for immediate family and spend about £10 on each person, plus another £5 each on my step-nephews, my best mate, each set of grandparents and my boyfriend's family (the latter normally get a big box of chocolates). I don't do Christmas cards as I don't really have anyone to send them to.
However I have been stashing vouchers that I've won on surveys since June and have shopped around for the cheapest presents I can, so it will probably cost slightly less than it did last year."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
Will probably spend a little more on presents this year, but only because eldest DD wants a bike which will last years and will enable us all to go out for family trips on the bikes together (always thinking on the bigger family picture!!!) Can comfortably afford it, so not making any sacrifices elsewhere to pay for it. Have already got several bargains for the other 2 kids so a significant amount of Xmas spending is done.
Will certainly be cutting back on food this year - have already told OH not to buy mince pies as I am the only one who eats them!!!! Plus 3 bottles of Cava for £10 - bargain! Roll on Xmas day, I say.0 -
This year, the same as last year, we are all going to be getting together for a family meal at a local restaurant. Last year we had a fantastic evening and all had a really good catch up and a few drinks! The whole evening cost us about £30 each. We have done this instead of buying each other presents, as normally that would cost £10-£30 for every person you buy for. We always have a lovely ChristmasDebt free (if you don't count the mortgage!)0

Last year I was unemployed and hardly had any money to buy people presents with. This year I was going to buy presents but OH and I have decided we are going to start saving to buy a house. So I'm going to talk to everyone who isnt immediate family who normally gives me gifts and make them promise not to buy me anything, as I wont be buying them anything, as I am going to really try harder to pay off my credit cards. My immediate family will be getting a small present each, as will my baby cousin and OH. I usually buy presents for my family and OH buys for his. Will be difficult for me as I love buying and giving presents and my family tends to spend a lot at Christmas. Will talk to people and see if I can convince them to cut back too!!0

Probably the same as last year, a fairly low-key affair. We tend to go away (not too dear if you rent a cottage at the very last minute) and treat the holiday as a present to ourselves. We do a few small presents to each other but usually things that we need (socks even!) or will enjoy (a nicer-than-usual bottle maybe). It works for us & we enjoy ourselves having a few walks and a peaceful break.0
