Thanks for your reply talkshop.talkshop wrote:Well....
HD Ready, is a must have feature, if you want to watch HDTV programs on Sky,Telewest, or Freeview. And I expect soon, it will be coming down your BT line.
As, I have not actually seen a live HDTV broadcast, I cannot comment on if it is much better than SDTV (standard).
I have owned widescreen TV's for 12 years now, and do not have any 4:3 TV's in my house, so would never buy anything 4:3.
Thats what i mean.
Despite selling W/S Tvs for a few years, and them having been around for 12 years or more, I am still happy with my good ol' Sony 28" 4:3.

Or is it one of those things that will be a 'must have' in the future.
Unlike an analogue TV that will become totally obsolete.
I can imagine that non HD tvs will be in use for many years to come and, like 4x3 as opposed to WS not too much of an issue.
Any thoughts?
The way i see it is that if you are spending hundreds on a TV you may as well make it as future proof as you can otherwise in the future if you wish to get HI Def you will have to fork out on another TV costing you more in the long run.0 -
no, HD is not that much of a concern. In general it is much more sensible to buy a good quality standard definition TV than a poor quality HD set (such as this one). A good quality SD set will have a better picture quality than the rubbish HD set.
The majority of the population won't even probably see a HD broadcast in the lifespan of their next/current TV.DONE: Great North Run 09! Raised £452 for the National Autistic Society

Will agree with you there, I know someone who's just spent over 1k on a lcd tv who then asked me to tune it in.....they currently have it connected to a normal sky box (which they are thinking of ditching for freeview) and a dvd player....but spent the extra for a HD ready tv because they have been sucked into the *must have* hype........a big step up for them from the 20" CRT they owned prior :O
At the end of the day, the tv mentioned by the OP is a good deal for the price, if peeps want to give it a miss then its their choice.Welcome, rogerramjet.
