Given up with Bellway

We wanted to part ex our house for a new Bellway property, after leaving our details they sent a valuer out from an independant EA, since then we haven't heard a peep from them. I phoned the main office to be told someone would ring back me back, but nothing!

Really annoyed with this now as we're holding of on putting ours on the market to see if we could proceed with bellway first.

Now I think we're just gonna get ours on the market asap.

And here was me thinking builders wanted to sell houses!!

There may have been a communication breakdown, if it was me and I was seriously wanting to do business with them I would try one more time at least.

Although I understand your frustration, you would think these companies would step up their game when they need the business the most!

We really want the house we were looking at but we can't hold out forever.
If they weren't gonna give us an offer you'd think they'd at least get back to us so we could get on with selling our house.

I'll try calling them one more time but no joy from that, then they'll have lost a sale.

I think it is tactics to soften you up for a low offer. At a guess. Put your house on the market.

Well I spoke to the woman responsible for part ex's yesterday and she mentioned a few figures but didn't put forward a formal offer. She said she'd speak to her sales director and call me back hopefully later that afternoon with an offer. I'm still waiting to hear back from her!

we're in a similar position ....though its only been 2 days since valuation...

I have to say that so far I've found their sales staff to be nothing but rude and apathetic .... we'd asked to take a look around one of their properties and were met with a sigh and a roll of the eyes ... the sales 'lady' then literally marched us over to the property in silence, opened the front door waved her hand in the general direction of the hallway and marched off back to her office to continue her chat with her pal. ... Clearly more important than securing a deal

I'd be really interested to hear how you get on - keep us posted :beer:

Just heard back today with a formal offer of 90k. The valuer they had sent out said a quick sale price of 85k which is far too low.

Told her we couldn't afford to sell that low and immediately she said what if they knocked 10k off the price of theirs. I told her it was a start but still not enough, all she had to say to that was 'we'll just have to leave it there then, sorry'. So I ended the call politeley and within a minute she I had a missed call from her, haven't rang back yet. Don't even know if I'm going to bother.

BTW - sorted a HIP this morning and house should be on the market by the end of next week for somewhere around 105-112

Well at least they came back.... !

I have a feeling they might well call you again soon with a revised offer, I think their financial year end is December so they may be keener to haggle out a deal than you think.

That being said I do think the market is up on the up somewhat and they may hold more advantage come the new year when everybody gets the moving bug so may be holding out for then :rolleyes:
