Chinese custom made dress

Hi everybody,
What a great forum! i've got lots of tips for my wedding already but just wanted to ask a few questions and draw on other people experience.
I've contacted several chinese dress makers regarding my wedding dress. I've chosen a dress that was a one off creation for a film and have asked if they can recreate it from eight clear pictures and a video of the film's wedding scene. So far Landy, Milly Bridal, Waimanman & Dragon Orient have all agreed that they can remake this dress at varying prices (about three have said that they couldn't recreate it).
I wanted to ask you all if you have had any dealings with the four mentioned above - i know that Landy and Milly are spoken about on here quite often.
Also, if you have used any of the above or any other dressmaker to make a custom dress for you in the manner that i am asking them to- how did you dress turn out?
Any advice is much appreciated

Hi,
I used Landy for mine. Mine wasnt one on there website. I picked it from another website and emailed them the link. Landy were amazing. I dealt with Ivan who was fabulous. I had emailed them my order for custom sized dresses for myself and 3bridesmaids. 30mins later I changed my mind on the dress I wanted and they were fab about. I have some pics but stilk waiting on the professional ones so if you want I can send you the pics of the what I asked for and what I got?
I couldnt recommend Landy enough from my experience with them

Thanks for the reply Val, it'd be great if i could see your pics when you are ready.
I'm getting a good feeling from three of the four who have agreed to make it. But if Landy comes recommended then i think i may go with them :-)0 -
There are lots of threads on here about Landy and Milly Bridal
If you want reccomendations read them :heart2: 'Tied the Knot' Saturday 9th October 2010 :heart2::blushing: Member of Diet Club October 2010 Brides and Grooms :blushing:Starting Weight: 14 stone 10.8lbsCurrent Weight: 13 stone 2lbsTotal loss: 21.8lbs :j0 -
To be fair, my questions weren't specifically about landy. They mentioned landy as that was one of the four companies i have contacted. What i was asking was whether anybody had had their dress recreated after supplying only photos to the chinese dress makers and what their opinions and outcomes were. but thanks for the input :cool:0

And if you read the threads I mentioned you will get your answers
There are a few ladies who are married now and tend not to come on anymore but they have posted in the said threads:heart2: 'Tied the Knot' Saturday 9th October 2010 :heart2::blushing: Member of Diet Club October 2010 Brides and Grooms :blushing:Starting Weight: 14 stone 10.8lbsCurrent Weight: 13 stone 2lbsTotal loss: 21.8lbs :j0 -
You said if i wanted recommendations to read the thread. my comment about recommendations was aimed at the recommendation received from Val above my post.
Also, sifting through 73 pages of posts which mostly won't be relevant to my query and are also quite dated isn't really going to help, especially as i am not only referring to Landy and Milly, but another two dress makersas well.
Plus most dresses bought from these websites are ordered from the pictures they have and already have predesigned patterns to reproduce from. I am asking them to recreate a one off designer dress that is by no means an easy creation as it is not the standard sort of dress seen on these sites.0 -

Any feedback would be lovely Buzby and much appreciated. I guess it'll be either Milly or Landy that i go with as i haven't managed to find much feddback about either of the other two.
Thank you

I have ordered from Milly using pictures. I have to say so far the experience has been good, they seem helpful. There was a problem with the lace for my dress which had me concerned, but they are having it especially made for me. Not sure when you want to order, but I don't mind keeping you in the loop while they make mine if that helps?0

I ordered from landy and they are good. I think Milly is slightly pricier, but you get sent photos of the dress being made - some prefers this for peace of mind.
My copy dress wasnt like the original one - less beads and lace details, cheaper material, etc, but you get what you paid for. I am happy with mine as I got them to custom made sleeves and accessories to go with it.0
