Just been told that our company is to close and that they are intending to relocate to another site 40 miles away . I have been told there will be a job for me there or i can take voluntary redundancy. My question is am i entitled to a travel allowance if i take the job , to cover fuel costs .

You need to ask if the company would cover this to avoid making a redundancy.
Some companies would do it and others may give you this for a limited period only - ie for 12 months.
You would not be automatically entitled to an allowance however as VR is on the table as a 'reasonable' alternative.Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger0 -
Unless you have a relocation agreement in your contract this would be redundancy and not voluntary redundancy.0
