OMG christmas has come early.. I got ED

I checked the insolvency register this morning (as I do periodically) and there, in black and white, it says ... I was discharged on 4th November 2009. :j

I had to come and share it with you all, as without your support and advice on these forums I would still be wallowing in debt and struggling with life in general. Thank you all so much, you are all stars and I can't find the words to express how wonderful I think these forums are. x

I was made bankrupt on 30th April 2009, and discharged early on 4th November 2009, so I feel very lucky and today I can't stop smiling. Off to sign on, and who knows... I may even find a job today ... as Im feeling very positive x What a great way to finish off the year ... that started with such a feeling of hopelessness xx

Luffs ya all oooooodles xx

  • Dammit was sooo excited I forgot to ask what I do now? lol x

Do I still need to tell new employers that I was bankrupt and arrange for the tax office to sort a nil tax code etc?

Or am I really free now? Is it like it never happened and I move on with my life, putting it behind me. xx

(Of course, I realise no credit, no debts, lessons have most definitely been learnt) x

Congratulations DCM!! Leave it 4-6 weeks then follow fermi's credit reference file clean up. It is important to do this even if you have no intention of getting credit in future.

If there was no IPA or nil-tax code IPA in place before your discharge then one cannot be implemented now.

    Well done on your ED!
  • Well done.

The Nil Tax Code IPA is still payable until the end of the financial year in April unless you change jobs and then you go back to normal. The only time you need to tell anybody about your BR is if htey specifically ask on forms ie Are you or have you ever been BR.

I am unemployed, so if I get a job now do I have to tell employers or tax office and go on nil tax code etc? Or am I now 'normal' tax etc x

You should go on normal tax. :)
