We recently decided to take on a small cat (7 months old) that a friend was going to put to a rescue, she came to us yesterday morning. Everything is going very well, she is very settled, had a great time playing with the kids and exploring (hamster seems to be a fave :O ) eating food, drinking and so on...anyways, we got her yesterday morning as said and she still hasnt used the litter tray from what I can see. 24 hours? No business? I have inspected the whole house, she certainly hasnt had any accidents and my friend states she never has any....so should I be concerned that she seemingly hasnt done anything, or just let her be and presume she may be a bit shy/unsettled yet?
Oh and pet insurance, anyone got any recommendations? Thank you

My 6 month old boy didnt go for nearly 48hrs when we first got him. i did call the vet but they said it was probably down to nerves. give her abit more time and make sure her litter tray is somewhere private.0

Thanks for that, I thought it could be nerves, I have her tray, bed and food bowl all in a nice quiet corner of a spare room, so she isnt disturbed there. I will keep an eye on her for another 24 hours or so, see how she goes.:starmod:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1189:starmod:0

My Kitten did not use the litter tray for around 48 hrs either. I think maybe it is all the stress of the new home, it must be a big shock for the kitty.
I HTH and GL:j I can't do it all on my own, I'm no Superman!:j0 -
Well she did one just now lol, so I am quite relieved, and very pleased with her for sticking with the litter tray. Thanks for the pm, she eats go cat kitten and felix kitten pouches. Everything seemed normal about her...erm...business lol so I think she is okay with that.:starmod:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1189:starmod:0

Glad to hear she's 'been'
With regards to pet insurance, there's a sticky here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=108056&page=107
I suggest you start there and work backwards as there are 107 pages
I've got my 10 year old cat insured with AXA. I pay £6.76 a month and that's a 'for life' policy. Premiums do depend on where you live I think. I'm in a very rural area in Scotland so maybe that's why it's so cheap.0 -
The food, water bowl and litter tray all need to be separated, cats won't generally choose to toilet where they eat and drink same as you wouldn't! Are you using the same litter and type of tray as in the previous home?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
