Which tumble dryer

My tumble dryer died over Summer & I have manager to dry outside for free until now. However, with 4 children I do need to replace the dryer.
Can anyone recommend a good economical dryer? I previosly had a condenser but are these more expensive to run & could I just pop a vented dryer in the garage & would this be more economical?

I don't think a condenser is any more expensive to run than a vented one, though they may be more expensive to buy.
The running cost will just depend on the power rating and the temp you set it to.

I bought a bocsh condensor earlier this year. Its B rated and has a sensor so stops when the washing is dry it cost 350.00. It replaces an indesit one which was very noisy and took ages to dry. It takes less than an hour to dry a load of washing and is very quiet.

Same here - Bosch condensor with auto sensor - 45 minutes max for a full load.

I fitted a british gas Minim 2 weeks ago. I fell over when I saw how much the tumble dryer cost to run (30p ish..... per hour load) which explains why my electric usage is approx £65 per month!

Anyway, I have since bought airers to fit the radiators - as they are on anyway over winter I thought I may as well use the heat for dual purposes. Its meant I have only used the tumble dryer 4 times in 2 weeks.

I am not suggesting NOT getting one, but use other methods as well; you're going to notice a huge price increase over the winter months otherwise in electric costs.

(And I have 5 kids at home and honestly never thought I could live without my dryer, but the £300 saving per year is my car hire costs for our holiday next year!!!)
