Barclays recieves most compalints from bank customers, Financial Ombudsman Service reveals. The Financial Ombudsman Service said complaints numbers reached a record level for the industry as a whole – reaching almost 70,000 for the first half of 2009, including 8,200 for Barclays.

The total number of complaints is not a good way to judge bad service. It is the number of complaints per 1,000 customers (or some similar number). When viewed like this is almost aways Abbey that comes out worse.
