Washing Machine Help please

I have a Hotpoint washing machine and it sounds as though the drum bearing has had it.

If I got the part, is it easy enough for my Hubby to do or is it a job for a washer man to do?

Thanks

changing a main bearing is easy enough if hubby can do simple diy.

beware, on some machines you have to buy the whole spider part complete. expensive and not worth doing really when a new machine can be bought for say 200 quid.
    Get some gorm.
  • Not that easy. Front panel off, Outer drum front off, pulley off, knock inner drum through, curse and swear as you attempt to remove old bearing, realise you should have ordered the spider as well, get it all back together, realise that you should have ordered a tub seal as it now leaks etc, etc

If it's under 5 years old, get Hotpoint to do it as the parts will be free (they charge about £90 for call-out & labour). If it's a lot more than 5 years old, don't bother and get a new machine.
