"Lay man" as in "egg". Tee hee -- what a card...
As I understand it - and I'm just about coming to the end of my 5-months-0% anniversary offer - when you reach the 12-month anniversary of when you took out your egg card [and you have to enquire early of egg to confirm which month it is, otherwise they don't tell you until the month is half-way through...] you can do a balance transfer [and purchases? I'm not sure. Anybody?] at 0% for 5 months. But make sure you only BT during your anniversary month itself - otherwise the cheeky gits will sting you with interest charges.Expect the worst & hope for the best...0 -
The anniversary offer is for balance transfers only - do not make any purchases at all during the 5 month period. In fact don't do anything at all with it (except pay the min payment
) after you've done the BT in your anniversary month until the offer finishes. 0 -
My anniversary starts on Feb 1
The sly dogs e-mailed me today offering 1.9% on all BTs in January for 5 months.
What's that all about?
No thanks.Ethical moneysaver0 -

I got the 1.9% email today too. Difference is my anniversary month is April or May (waiting for Egg to confirm).
So I'm considering taking them upon the 1.9% offer straight away, repaying the month before the anniversary then doing the 0% BT in the anniversary month for 5 months.
On the face of it there is a worthwhile benefit of a net 3% interest gain for about the next 3 or 4 months.
Has anyone found a catch in this move?If only everything in life was dreadful!0 -

I got one of these as well. The thing is, it looks better to me because my anniversary starts in May. Do you think I should take advantage of this offer?Lurker extraordinaire! no. 4950

My Anniversary month is January, so the email I got from Egg today read as follows:-
Subject: A special time for you and your Egg Card
Dear Mr Love Child
It's the anniversary of when you got your Egg Card, and to celebrate this momentous event, just look at the anniversary offer we've lined up for you.
0% interest fixed until 1 June 2005 on balance transfers made in January 2005.
Your anniversary offer gives you 0% fixed until 1 June 2005, and then at 14.9% pa (variable), on balances transferred to your Egg Card from now until 31 January 2005.
Transfer balances from credit and store cards and even loans and overdrafts. Why pay interest when you don't need to?
It's a great idea for taking care of any balances you might have hanging around from holidays, home improvements or perhaps an outfit you bought on a certain store card. And it could save you a packet on interest too.
Needless to say - I'd already taken up their offer on January 1st
