HM Peanut Butter Help Please

I have an actual peanut butter maker - ie a gadget solely for this purpose.
I can't remember the make as I'm at work but I bought it at Robert Dyas for £15.
It has a hopper at the top to put in the nuts and then it grinds them up and there is a pot at the bottom where it catches the butter.
I've made pistachio and cashew nut as well at peanut butter. However peanuts are quite small compared to other nuts so I've had to bash up the larger nuts first before they go through the machine.
I'll have a look at home and post the name / maker of the machine.I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
Does a hand blender not do the job? I would try tp avoid another gadget unless really necessary!

My sainsburys basics blender isn't up to the job sadly : ( Agree re not buying gadgets for the sake of it too - hence why I was thinking the cheap food processor might be handy for multiple jobs iykwim.
So cross when I looked up the price of the magic bullet - £10 barnd new off a market stall as a Xmas pressie for the sister who has everything. If only I'd thought ahead I could have grabbed one for myself as it is a lovely bit of kit and she gets a LOT of use out of hers for various things. If she didn't live at the other end of the country I'd just pop round once a m onth with a bag of nuts lol!0 -
My DD eats jars of the stuff and thought about making some myself but having looked the price of unsalted roasted peanuts it looks like it's going to be too expensive.
Does anyone here make their own and if so what do you use and where have you found the cheapest nuts to buy?
I wondered it Monkey nuts would work as they are quite inexpensive?0 -

I have used this recipe using smartprice salted peanuts

It's not quite the same as commercial peanut butter so might not suit your DD (i tend to have to add a bit of sugar) but once you get used to the difference it is scarily addictive!0 -

Not Buying it 2015!0 -
I make my own peanut butter. I think I bought 500g shelled peanuts in Julian Graves for £1.49, and this will make quite few jars, so I don't think it should be that expensive.
I lightly roast 1 cup of peanuts in the oven, then, while they're still warm, put them in the food processor with a pinch of salt and some oil and process until smooth. If you want a more moist texture just add more oil. I use organic rapeseed oil because of the omega 3 in it, but you can use sunflower or peanut oil. When I've run out of rapeseed oil, I have used olive oil, but you could taste that - didn't stop me from eating the butter though!0 -
I make it using Asda or Tesco value salted peanuts, bung in the food processor or blender and whizz until smooth, you just add a little bit of oil (sunflower or veg) until it's the consistency you like.
If you're bothered about the amount of salt in the value peanuts you could give them a rinse first.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
It might take quite a long time in the processor - when I did almond butter recently it took about 15 minutes of processor time plus breaks to stop the machine and push the almonds down with a spatula
