advice on moving in together and benefits

I am employed and get paid around £260 a week (once tax is paid). My partner is looking for work and gets JSA at the moment, if we move in together (we would be living with another friend as well, will have a room each but will sleep in the same bed most nights) will I have to pay all rent for the both of us, and will he continue to get JSA if he is living with me?

very greatful for any advice!

  • You are a couple for benefit purposes so you will have to declare your income.

You however may be entitled to help with LHA.

If your partner is claiming contribution based JSA he can carry on claiming it, if he is on income based then he can't.
