Welcome Questionnaire - not received or a game?

I have had a letter from welcome finance today in which they say as they explained in their original letter to me they are not in a position to accept the complaint until the questionnaire has been completed and returned. Questionnaire must be returned within 4 weeks from when it was posted or claim invalid...
Thing is - this is the first letter I have had from them! Has their questionnaire and first letter gone missing or is this some part of a weird game / scare tactic designed to put me off as presumbly I am about to miss their deadline!
This is what I thought I might say back in my next letter:
9th November
Thank you for your letter dated 5th November which I received today.
This letter came as a surprise to me as it is the first letter I have recevied from Welcome Finance in response to my letter dated 28/9/09. Perhaps your letter has gone missing in the post? Can you therefore send me a copy of this letter bu return with amended completion deadline as I am anxious to resolve this matter as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely...
I am going to send this letter (as per my last) recorded delivery and will fax a copy too. They have supplied a telephone number on their letter too, but I am not sure if it is sensible to make telephone contact with them as the records as not an secure as written contact?
The other thing that is a bit odd is that in their letter to me that I did receive (i.e. the second) thei refer to my letter (my first) as being dated 8th October, but it wasnt it was dated 28th September. Do you think this is important / significant?
Thought or opinions are appreciated, thanks,
Karyn

Hi Karyn
There is no harm in doing this.
However, it seems these questionnaires are just procedure now, but you can always check with them to make sure a letter have been sent and maybe mis laid in the post, especially due previous postal strikes.
Going back to the questionnaire personally I would complete it, normally I would say ask them to refer to the letter (and not complete the form as they should already hold the details), but as its seems to be a basic procedure now, maybe it would be the best option to complete it.
If you do this then answer them to the best of your knowledge, and you can still ask them to refer to your letter i brackets on the questionnaire, and also your account they hold on you, as they should still hold the details of the sale of the loan/ppi.
You do what you feel is best here, good luck with this.
Please let us know how you get on, cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi, just to update you. I have now received a good offer from Welcome. They didnt loose any more of our paperwork but they do take a long time to reply.
The actually PPIpremium was 363 but interest was 121  and then 8% on top means my DH is getting back a total of 665.
Thanks to all for your help and sharing your experiences xMe debt free thanks to MSE :T0 -
Congrats, was this the full amount? did you do your calculations from the info on this site? You are entitled to have every penny back with interest, sorry to be a damp squid but they don't usually make a full offer as their first offer.0
