When we went to see Bruce Springsteen there last year, we stayed at the Innkeepers Lodge just outside Cardiff. £39.95 per room b&b. It's a short journey and short walk to the bus stop and was easier than driving in. HTH0

I can second the Innkeepers Lodge, we've stayed there quite a few times whilst visiting family and it has always been really clean and the rooms are quite spacious.
I have also stayed at the Holiday Inn in the centre of Cardiff that is quite nice and reasonable too. I can't say I have found any "cheap" b&bs (certainly not less than £60 a night anyway).
Enjoy Cardiff !0 -
We stayed at the Cardiff Atlantic Wharf Travelodge in the October half term. Was a lovely new hotel, beside the Red Dragon Centre and Cardiff Bay. We booked in the sale and it cost £9 for the room. They also had an older style TL in Cardiff city centre we noticed. www.travleodge.co.uk0

You won't really be wanting to use your car, so need to be close/walking distance. So I'd say:
There's the eTap at £35/room http://www.etaphotel.com/gb/hotel-6175-etap-hotel-etap-hotel-cardiff-centre/index.shtml
Otherwise, look at anything in Cathedral Road as it'll be decent, or Newport Road as it's walking distance.
Try this: http://www.activehotels.com/hotel/index-en.html
I had a quick look, most seem to be sky high that night unless you go out a few miles. The Stadium's right by the station though so getting the train to (say) Barry isn't impossible (time of night depending).0
