Radiator probs

Hi
Just moved into new house on Friday. It has been empty for approx 6 months or so. I have just turned the heating on and after initially bleeding the radiators they seemed to work fine. Until they went off at night and the timer came on the following morning and the radiators are stone cold. Once I bleed them again though they work fine until the timer switches them off and on again and its back to the beginning with cold radiators. Can anyone suggest what else I might do please. Someone at work has suggested I bleed the radiators while the boiler is off - I've been doing it while the boiler and timer are on would this make a difference?

Banana Lovers
Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

Doubtful, leave the heating running for at least 2 hours and see if they start to warm up, your system maybe be piped to provide a tank of hot water first and then heat up the rads. It may also be a wiring problem or faulty stat, very hard to know without seeing these things first hand and the way your system is configured. Also bleed the heating pump, air trapped in it can reduce the flow around the rads, by bleeding the rads all your doing is filling them with any hot water within your system (if you run enough water out) which can bypass any zone valves/stats that may be fitted.Norn Iron Club member No 3530

You need to bleed the radiators with the pump OFF, as it can pull in air from points around the system.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

Do you have a pressurised (combi-boiler) or vented system (boiler with hot water tank)?0
