Radiator not staying warm

Can anyone help with my radiator heating problem? When I put the heating on all radiators warm up nicely. But after about an hour the one radiator in the living room will start to cool down and eventually go cold while all other radiators around the house stay warm. Any suggestions.

Sorry, I'm not so good with tech. If you mean the temperature value at the side of the radiator, yes it does have one and is on max (as are most of the other radiators).0

You could also check if its filling with air, but it sounds more like the valve is faulty. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0

I have bleed the radiator so know its not filled with air. What does a faulty valve entail. Will it require a plumber.0

Its fairly straightforward if you know how to drain the system, have the right tools and oh I find a good choice of swear words always helps with plumbing! For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0

You could take the top off the thermostaic valve (TVR) this is usually finger tight. You will find a plunger get a pair of pliers and gently push it in and pul it out a few times, it might just be stuck from not using through the summer. Good luck.Look after the Pennies and the Pounds will take care of themselves. :beer:0

This is partly correct if you can find a direct replacement ie one of the same, a different type may require you to alter the pipe work.
Agree a lot of swearing does tend to helpLook after the Pennies and the Pounds will take care of themselves. :beer:0 -
Is the room going cold and is there more than 1 rad in that room? If the room is staying warm then the TRV is most likely doing its job ie..shutting the rad down when the room hits temperature, some rooms with more than one rad may well have 1 rad on a TRV and another with just ordinary valves.Norn Iron Club member No 3530

get a thermometer and read off the temp in the room.
itll tell you if the TRV stat is actually working.Get some gorm.0 -
Your TRV may be stuck. See above. Its better not to push & pull the pin.
Just remove the plastic top off, hold the metal valve attached to the rad in your hand & give it a little tap (light tap) with a hammer. It should be enough to release it (if it is a TRV problem). Replace the plastic top & see if it now works.
If the TRV works but the radiator doesnt heat up, open the valve on the other end of the radiator a little. Not Again0
