Removing permanent marker pen from a NEW jacket..

My DD has got black marker pen on one of her new school blouses. I've already tried treating it with Vanish, Ace and washing in biological but it's still there bold as ever.
Not sure whether it's worth spending loads on special stain stuff when a new blouse is only £4 but wondered if any of you OSers had a tried and tested method.
Suggestions anyone?

My Kim and Aggie book recommends soaking in milk for ink stains.
It's a cheap option, so worth trying. I hope it works (or at least improves it).February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

Thanks I'll try that (and it won't cost me anything either)

Didn't know about soaking in milk & will try that myself next time DH has a leakt pen in his shirt pocket! I'm a great believer in bleach, so if you've already tried Ace and it's still there and not faded I fear you may have to get a new white one - but dye this one so DD will still get some wear out of it out of school.Resolution:

If it's permanent marker you might not be able to get it off. However I did discover accidentally a few years ago that writing over permanent marker with a whiteboard pen removes permanent marker if it's on other surfaces. Don't know if it will work on fabric though.0

My mum once got perm marker out of a blouse of mine with hairspray , i have done this ever since. I bought the cheapest nastiest hairspray i could find and then you spray the stain with it liberally till saturated then wash it as normal its never failed for me
Interesting....I'll try that tonight, thanks..It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
I second the hairspray method. My brother covered his bed sheets in felt tip pen when ill in bed as a youngster ( he is now in his forties), a friend who was visiting when it was discovered told mum this tip. It worked and I have been doing it since I got married over 30 years. Used it on felt tip and biro.knitted so far 2011 24 Baby Hats 11 Bunting 24 Emergency squares 1 Angels Pocket 1 Baby Blanket 19 IS Hats 1 Sands blanket 12 Mrs Twins squares 2012 24 Baby Hats 6 Angels Pocket 7 Baby Blankets 14 Baby Buntings 2 Body Warmers 1 Baby Jacket0

Our school use whiteboard markers and I have never been able to get the marks out of uniforms, pinafores to cover up the marks is the only solution I have found!0
