Actually - if a mobile phone shop sold you a faulty item you would be entitled to your bus fare back under law. If they gave you the wrong one most retailers would refund travel expenses as a gesture of goodwill.
Just my 2p worth.
I sympathise with OP, I had similar happen to me - not a big ebay user, so 1 neg stands out like a sore thumb. You can put a note in underneath, advising others to check out the feedback they give - and that this is commonplace for them, and therefore buyers should beware.0 -

You have missquoted me I said
You may be right, I understand these regs do not apply to e Bay auctions and that it is not required by eBay regs. Would you complain to trading standards over 0.75P? Do you think they would take you seriously?
Please note: a.n.other poster has previously explained why he thought this legislation did not apply to on line auctions. He quoted from the appropriate legislation."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but on what do you base this novel idea?:p"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I'd be interested to know the basis for that one as well! Having bought things on weekends away before now and had major problems on returning them the idea of getting my fares back to a holiday destination is rather appealing :j
Seriously though, would anyone actually think they would get fares back to a shop? I did get agreement recently from Dixons that as my item was purchased at a town over 100 miles away that they would allow me to return it at a more local one which I thought was rather good.

I have a problem and was wondering if anyone could help me with it??!!
I ended up getting my hands on a pair of tickets for Radio Ones One Big Weekend in Scotland this year, I couldnt go to the gig in the end as i was at a family wedding and hadnt realised it was on the same weekend. Having asked everyone i knew if they wanted the tickets, no one did, i decided to try and flog them on ebay, wasnt even asking to much for them, (I only put them on for a fiver!)
The bidding ended up going better than i expected and they were soon up to £60. Then some lass put a bid in for £10,000. This obviously was the winning bid.
I have now just found out Paypal have taken £157 (ish) out of my bank account to pay for the fees, as i obviously didnt sell the tickets, does anyone know how or if i will get the money back from paypal??
And i know it was probably a stupid ting to do to try to sell them but i just wanted a genuine fan to be able to go to the gig - and not end up with a massive debt at the end of it

Angel81,
I'm not sure I fully understand your post. If you sold somehting and got a paypal payment then you will pay fees. What exactly was the £167 for? Paypal only take a percentage of the incoming payment, they can't take more as a fee than you were actually paid.
If you didn't sell then you wouldn't have bene paid by paypal and wouldn't have a fee. Can you please clarify whether the tickets sold, how much for and whether you received the buyers payment?
Thanks
Soo

Why would Paypal have taken the money out of your account?
Any fees due would have been refunded once you had completed the NPB process.
Is there an explantion on your Paypal account as to who the money was paid to?Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

Hi,
The tickets never sold, i still have them
Some horrible person put in a bogus bid for £10,000, (but i never recieved this) i must have clicked on 'Payment Recieved' by accident in the 'My Ebay' part and now Paypal has taken £157 out of my bank 0 -

What seems to have happened is that as soon as the auction ends, you are charged final value fees (FVFs) and it seems that you never went through the Non-Paying Bidder process to get these fees back. So as a result of thise you still owed eBay £157 which they removed through your bank (assuming you had a direct debit set up)Titch
