Phone and Broadband help please

The wife nearly had us sign up to Talk Talk while I was out.Thinking we where getting a better deal I dont think so.
She now has it that I have to find somethng cheaper than BT who I have been with for years and had no problems other than a few set up ones which they sorted realy well.
I am looking for anytime calls and broadband but nothing seems that good a deal.I am paying £40 a month at the moment option 2 bt have offered a discount on the broadband of £3 so broadband comes down to £17 a month.
Not sure where to go or just stay with BT less hassle more money.

    What exchange are you on?
https://www.samknows.com, then exchange search, look for 'LLU Operator Presence'.
The LLU operators will offer you the best deals, let us know what your options are.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

PS: The current new sign up rate for BB option 2, line rental and Unltd Anytime calls is £36.74, so you're already paying more than you should be, and their 'discount' is nothing of the sort.
Are you already on DD discount and online billing?

    Local Loop Unbundled.

So you have a wide choice of LLU providers on your exchange, O2, Sky, Orange, TalkTalk. You've ruled out the latter (even though it would be much cheaper on the Essentials package), I would not touch Orange, and look at Sky as an add on if you already have some other Sky services. Otherwise I would switch your broadband to O2 Standard, which you can get for £7.34pm with an O2 mobile user discount, or a fiver more without. Current offer is first 3 months free, and £50 cashback if you sign up via Quidco. That brings your first year average charge down to £1.34pm.
