that you can't find!
Sold an item two weeks ago, and its not turned up, other stuff sent at the same time has, and lo and behold this is the only item I can't find the tracking receipt for for royal mail!
I'm so annoyed with myself as i keep meticulous records and keep all my receipts, even have some from last year.
So of course, the buyer is ticked off and there's nowt I can do as I can't track or prove delivery as I've lost my wee slip so will have to refund.
Does anyone think I can stall her a bit longer in case its caught in the backlog? Its literally years since I've an item not arrive for a buyer and I always send recorded, it was posted on the 28th Oct, right in the midst of the strikes.
Big Sigh, will have to take on the chin I guess:mad:

You could ask you buyer to wait a few more days - stress the disruption caused by strikes and reassure them that you will refund if it does not arrive, maybe by Wednesday as that will be 2 weeks from 28th.
But if they have expressed annoyance at non-delivery already you may just have to refund.
Ask them to repay if it does arrive and keep on very friendly and apologetic terms - I know it's not your fault that it has been delayed but sometimes you just have to grovel!
For the future, if you log into Paypal and click on transaction details, you can add the tracking number which will be available to you to view and the buyer gets an e-mail with these details.
It would not be of use as far as I know for a Royal Mail claim but at least you would be able to try to track the parcel if you lost your receipt. Not much help to you now but it's a handy feature for the future.
Hopefully if you have to refund, you have an honest buyer who will repay if it turns up.0 -
I would offer the buyer two options:
1) Wait another week (or 2) to see if it turns up - especially as there have been strikes
2) Offer a refund
Let the buyer decide what they want to do but it won't hurt asking if they can wait another week.0 -
28th October is'nt so long ago, not in the real world.
RM make us alow 15 working days before they consider an item lost and that is when no strikes are on. Surely the buyer has seen the news and heard perhaps about strikes and backlog.
Ask them to wait longer. If they open a dispute it won't be sorted very quickly anyway.
So annoying when most mail order firms can safely quote 28 days delivery and we get slammed if an item is 2 minutes late.
Off my soapbox.0 -
For items not received Paypal is not deciding on them as quickly at the moment, they're giving it a few extra days because of the strikes.0

Its 11 days even with strikes I would expect it to be here. I would expect a good reaction from the seller if not would be seriously considering feedback/DSR options. If your buyer is already annoyed I would refund now if a low value item. (under £39)
Also as reported in quite a few places a minority of sellers have been using the strikes as an excuse for poor dispatch times (as they know the star has been removed from DSR) so this has annoyed a lot of buyers. So theres some neg happy buyers out there atm0 -
Sometimes it is best to just refund in good time, through gritted teeth if necessary and get it over and done with. The moment we sellers try and expect buyers to think they somehow have to wait for RM to consider a claim, or need to wait weeks for goods we run the risk of a neg and still have to refund anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. your buyer, in fact both of you sound like good ebayers to me. it can be frustrating when youre waiting for something through the post and it never shows up.0
