If anyone has this and can recommend it I would be interested in your comments.
I'm looking for an easy to use machine that plays all, has videoplus, dual format and will record from my freeview set topbox.
Alternative machines are goodman gbp 99.99 in Argos
Liteon model gbp 119.99
Asda are selling a Phillips dvd recorder for gbp 129.99
Any opinions if you have any of these models would be appreciated

Yes its a pretty good all round machine for all the reasons you mention. The DVD's you record at lower resolution are fine for squeezing on to one disc but won't play elsewhere.
Definitely value for money.0 -
I posted this earlier it might be of interrest to you

JoeYou can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.0 -
If it is the Liteon LVW-5006 then it is a good machine.
It does not have a built in hard drive like some models though.
I have had no problems whatever with mine, and have also updated the firmware from Liteon to make it multi-region and disable macrovision.0 -
I had a 5045 with DVD writer and 160GB HDD. Didn't rate it, it hit the shelves before it was properly developed and was really fussy with blank discs.
Took it back, bought a Topfield 5800 (ok, lost the DVD burner but never would have used it anyway since the Topfield has a USB2 out), not looked back since.
Have heard that their standalone DVD burner machines are good though.0 -
I haven't had any problems with the Liteon LVW-1105HC+ dvd recorder. It's only about £90 and does everything you need

I have the LiteOn 5115 from Argos and it is spot on!!!
Sure you can find it cheaper online but if the 5115 is the one you are considering, i've had no problems with mine!!
