Bt cancellation charge

Hi i've been reading around but don't seem to have much luck on finding anyone who has reclaimed their BT Line rental £70 cancellation charge
Basically i moved into a new flat and was under the impression i had to rent a line from BT and pay sky (3 in one package, tv etc) for phone useage. i asked to transfer the previous tennants account into my name (a friend of ours as well) and they said OK. after 3 weeks of faffing around they came back and told me i had to start a new one. So doing that i painfully setup a new line rental so we could have internet and phone after several direct debit !!!! ups on their behalf I unwittingly signed up with Sky and that all went ahead and was activated.(i now know differently that i could have gone straight to Sky and done it without needing line rental from BT)
Having my post delivered to my billing address which is different to the address in question i picked up the warning letter too late about cancellation fees in order to do anything about it (im sure i would just incur fees from SKY anyway!). so rather annoyed i rang BT and argued with them at no point was i told i was going to be charged this, the guy disagreed and insisted i had, even if i didnt remember it and i had been sent a detailes of it in the post, both lies and he said regardless the charge is there and i should try to reclaim from SKY.
Now i know BT are souless at the best of times but was wondering if anyone had managed to reclaim this £70 fee, my argument i signed no written document and unless they have they the recording then it doesn't stand. if they do then i may ask for a transcript or an actual recording. im am 100% sure i told them i was setting up a SKY line and at no point did they say it was pointless because i didn't need to.
Any advice welcome.

I have not lnog joined BT but I thought or says if I cancel before the term contract - it will be £6 or £7 per month that I cancelled beforehand... so why is it £70.00 ?0

No idea, I was told it was a standard charge for our option, (just line rental) and after googling it I have found many others get charged that amount so guess its normal.
I have reuqested a transcript of our conversation and they said it would be £10 so have now requested an offline review of the phone call which they will do in about 4-7 working days. what's the bet its not in my favour!
my argument is that i told them i was going with SKY and was unwittingly setting up line rental with BT when i didn't need to, at which no point did the BT staff inform me this was not necessary and set it up and charged me anyway.
....fingers crossed on that one."Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." - Albert Einstein0 -
They may have thought that you wished to take your line rental from them and cps your calls to Sky.0

I dont mean to sound harsh but you asked BT for a service and they supplied it.
If you wanted a new line with Sky you wouldnt call Talk Talk or Tiscali or BT or any other provider to place the order you would speak to service provider of your choice.
If you wanted a service with Sky why call BT and expect them to think anything other than you want a BT line.
You wouldnt call sky to order a BT phone line so why call BT to order a Sky phoneline?
No way out im afraid BT will have a copy of the call and if you agreed to the order you will be held to the contract.0
