dual hard drives

i am in the process of adding a second hard drive mainly for playing online games could anyone tell me do i need to install anti virus and drivers on both drives if i want to access the net with either drive

any help gratefully accepted many thanx in advance

    No, your anti-virus should cover all drives (including floppy) as it's checking stuff coming in, not where it's stored. Just check that it recognises the new drive when you do a full system scan.

    ps - will revise the answer if you have a dual-boot system (different operating systems on each drive).

    No matter how many hard drives you have in your system it still makes up one computer so Anti virus/ Firewall software will protect them all. Unless as ManAtHome stated you have a dual-boot system. Windows will show the drive under a different letter but apart from that there is no difference from only having one drive. Just remember to alter your install paths from the defult to your other drive. Accessing internet and every other function will remain exactly the same

    No .. use AVG as you anti Virus,, it's a good program and it's "free", once installed on your C:\ it will also protect your 2nd drive (D:\)

    If you are installing a different or second operating system to the second drive to boot from,you would need to install antivirus software to it as it is acting as a completely seperate computer in that case.
