Is it safe to delete .tmp folders?

I regularly use Disk Cleanup to remove .tmp files but when I go into C:\Windows\Temp I have loads of .tmp folders that have not been removed. Is it safe to delete them manually?
They have names like:
MCE0000d
WDFAD0D.tmp
WDFE344.tmp
I am fine using computers when they are up and running but all the behind the scenes stuff goes way over my head so any advice would be appreciated

If they are in the tmp folder then they "should" be safe to delete.
I know sometimes if you save things with IE (like an email attachemt) It sometimes saves them in your tmp folder. But if you don't recognise it, you can delete it.
The ones that are not removed are usually ones being used by Windows or other programs that you have open. So close every program before running cleanup. if it tells you it can't delete or remove it then reboot and then try to delete it. That should let them be removed.Laters

Forget Disk Cleanup, use ccleaner regularly to get rid of all unnecessary files on your computer see here. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I always delete my .tmp files, I would not delete any of the folders they are in as you might get a lot of error messages can't write to folder.Look after the Pennies and the Pounds will take care of themselves. :beer:0
